Gina G. has been performing since her childhood on television in Curaçao, the Caribbean island she grew up. As a young woman she moved to the Netherlands and later to Austria, Turkey and Malaysia. In every country Gina G. lived, she continued her career as a singer, having concerts and performing for Radio and TV. Starting with jazz Gina developed a unique, deep, husky vocal sound. She performed in many different countries. In 2004 she revived her latin roots and started singing in Spanish with her own Cuban band "Gina G. y Son Así". After learning how to play guitar she recorded her first CD ‘Escucháme’ with the famous Lazarito Valdes and his Orchestra in Havana, Cuba. Part of the proceeds from this CD went to "UNICEF Childrens' Fund".
Having Dutch as her native tongue, Gina G wanted to give the Cuban boleros from the fifties a modern Dutch make over. With her interpretation of the cuban boleros, she made her own Dutch lyrics fit into beautiful arrangements, making each song something special while keeping the same intense emotions and passion from the original songs. Her latest CD 'Theater' is a refreshing change in Dutch music, comprising of typical Dutch ballads (so-called 'smartlappen'), pop/rock, reggae, waltz and Dutch carnival music making new arrangements of the old Cuban songs in all these different music styles. 'Theater' is a wonderful musical experience for people of all ages and backgrounds. Part from the proceeds of the CD 'Theater' will go to "Doctors Without Borders".
Being also a painter, Gina G. designed the cover of her CD 'Theater' using her own artwork. With eight exhibitions in five different countries, Gina G. donated all the proceeds to children in war torn and third world countries.
