As a purely instrumental quartet, Giraffe creates a truly unique sound by combining elements of psychedelic rock with hard bop and modal jazz. Giraffe's approach to original music keeps improvisation at its core, creating music with energy, guts, and enough emotional and intellectual content to keep everyone - musicians as well as audience - engaged at a profound level. The live shows exemplify the transcendent possibilities of musical experience. They are also really fun.
Guitarist Alex Anest, keyboardist Neil Donato, bassist John Sperendi, and drummer Dave McWilliam have collaborated over the years in bands ranging in style from jazz and rock to roots and country. In January 2010, they unveiled their newest project: the instrumental electric quartet known as Giraffe.
