Goth Mountain

Biography

In the misty Santa Cruz Mountains of California is the Goth Mountain Studio. Led by vocalist/songwriter W.J. McKay, Goth Mountain is a psychedelic rock band inspired by bands like Pink Floyd, Cream and The Doors with a sound like Porcupine Tree, Blackfield and Dimmu Borgir. Fans often say that McKay reminds them most of Pink Floyd co-founder, the late Syd Barrett. The music fits well in the genres of rock, goth, prog, and black metal . . all with a cinematic and symphonic element. Goth Mountain albums tend to be concept-driven, and there are recurring themes in all the albums. Retribution's "Snakes" is a continuation of "Silken Aliens" off the debut album. Goth Mountain also puts out albums that are more genre-specific, like Hash House, Acid Dub and Absorption.
