Canadian singer/songwriter Hailey Morgan started wowing crowds in her early
teens, drawing local attention with her unique musical style, catchy melodies and
vocal ability. Raised in Vancouver, HM grew up immersed in the arts. "I can't
remember a time when I wasn't listening to music - dancing or singing along to one
of my parent's old tapes of Billy Joel or The Beatles. I was really wrapped up in the
music biz. It was great!"
Hailey Morgan's songs take on an excitement of their own, from melodic heartfelt piano
ballads like "You & Me" and "I Guess I Was Wrong" to instant rock anthems such as "Let
Go". And with a voice as passionate as Amy Lee's of Evanescence and as soulful as
Regina Spektor's, HM will have you turning up the volume and letting loose with her
fun and charming brand of alternative pop.
Hailey Morgan's songwriting is intensely mature for one so young. "I remember
writing my first song at eight and being so excited about it! I listen to it now and
laugh. I must say it's extremely cute in that eight-year-old-writing-her-first-song kind of
way." The confident musician, now 17, has written numerous songs on themes from
heartache to self-discovery to that guy in your class that you just can't stop thinking
about. HM can be found sitting at the piano, scribbling down lyrics as she plays chord
progressions for that perfect new song.
Hailey Morgan plays live shows constantly, hitting coffee shops, restaurants,
festivals and fundraisers all over Vancouver. This year, she was chosen as one of
the top ten artists in BC in Youthink Magazine's Best Teen Band Contest
sponsored by Tom Lee Music and 100.5 The Peak along with being the guest
performer at award-winning, singer/songwriter Kenneth Choi’s World Tour concert
at the Red Robinson Show Theatre.
HM's debut record "YOU & ME" which features ten of Hailey Morgan's original songs,
was recorded with Larry Anschell (Sum 41, Nickelback, Sarah McLachlan) at Turtle
Recording Studios and Rob Begg (Ron Irving, White Wolf) at Marpole Studios over
the course of several creative months. "YOU & ME" hit the Vancouver music scene
with a bang and a resonating shockwave. With albums selling fast, the Canadian
teenager plans to take her act on the road for a cross-Canada tour soon. Needless
to say, there's a lot more to come from this talented young lady.
