Michael “Hands” Wilson
Bio
Born in Lake Charles, Louisiana, Michael began singing at his local church at the age of eleven with his brother. Soon after he discovered his love for singing, Michael took up playing the piano the following year at the age of twelve and has been playing ever since. At the tender age of fifteen, Michael began playing at local clubs and soon acquired enough experience, credibility, and talent to open up for local favorites such as Archiebell and the Drells and Wilson Pickett. Soon after, he and a few others started up a band and called themselves, Funk plus Function. In the seventies, in his early twenties, Michael moved to Austin Texas where he played with other reputable artists such as Curtis Mayfield, Bobby Bluebland, and The Temptations. He moved to Los Angeles in ’76 to open up for Earth, Wind, and Fire, and the like. Also in the seventies, he played with Johnny Guitar Watson, Ben E. King, New Birth, and Joe Tex. In the eighties, he moved to Japan and played with many popular artists, as well as worked on many commercials. After spending about a decade working in Japan, Michael moved back to America to work alongside The Commodores, Stevie Wonder, The Chilights, Stylistics, and Martha Reeve and the Vandelas. Since 2002 and currently, Michael has been playing with Sax player, Eric Darius. Also, Michael recently wrote and produced his very first c.d., “It’s About Time,” and is currently working on a second c.d. to be out mid 2010. Michael has extensive experience in singing, writing, producing, and playing the piano.
