Harry Grillo Bio
Timeless, powerful, spiritual – music is an incredible tool that can communicate beyond all barriers. For singer/songwriter Harry Grillo, it is all of these and more – a very essence to daily survival. Lyrically and melodically this South Carolina native believes in the importance of representing the capacity for the true aesthetic.
The fourth of five brothers, Harry grew up exposed to a diverse sonic palette. His brother’s player piano sparked an interest in plucking out melodies, and as a teen he wrote his first song, an Asian – flavored instrumental he would later title “Himalayan Sunrise.” Great rock vocalists such as Ann Wilson of Heart and Robin Zander of Cheap Trick inspired Harry to pursue vocal study. Frustrated by the limitations of his voice he realized that he was not enough of a vocalist to craft a career on that alone. Inspired by the poetry of Stevie Nicks he began writing his own lyrics; and soon discovered the therapy and power of creating a song.
In 2006 Harry began choosing from the best of his work and began the long process of recording his debut album. In late fall of 2008, he released “Escape From The Midnight Sun”. The album explores the variety of ways the human spirit escapes from the devastation and heartlessness of contemporary living. Primarily through the use of Apple’s Garageband software and his Ovation acoustic, Harry creates an album that is entirely his. He is currently finishing his second album, "New Pop Fantasy" which will be released summer of 2010. The first single, "Five Days Away" features backing vocals by his mother, who passed away in February 2010. "Five Days Away" is available now for digital download!
Harry believes his love for music is a gift from God. “It’s meant to be shared – Music is a voice for the voiceless, and an amazing tool that can heal the heart and soul.”
