Hartley C. White was born in Kingston, Jamaica and currently resides in Queens , New York. He was educated at Kingston College and Queens College. Musically, he was Classically trained on the piano, with certificates from The Royal Schools Of Music. His other musical knowledge comes from personal contact with the Jamaican music scene through its developement as well as listening to all types of music from around the world. His Musical influences include Edith Piaf, Miles Davis, Captain Beefheart, 10cc, Gil Scott Heron, Beethoven, The Beatles, Satie, Curtis Mayfield, Marty Robbins, Billie Holiday, Carla Bley, Gal Costa, B.J.Thomas, Oregon, Janis Ian, Tom Waits, Weather Report, Frank Zappa, The Rascals, John McLaughlin, Sly and The Family Stone, David Friesen, And The Meters among others. Hartley sings, writes and plays various instruments including guitars, keyboards, drums, percussions, harmonicas, recorders, and wood flutes.He has developed his own musical style, Whopazootic Music, which bypasses the various known musical categories and utilises a broken rhythm derived from Bruce Lee's Jeet Kune Do. He has released three albums, the solo albums 'Run The Gauntlet' and 'Coming Out Fighting', and the Project Album, 'Face The Music' . He has just (Jan2010) completed another Project Album called 'Under The Radar', and is currently working on an album with the French Recording Artist Sylvie Walder.
