Heather Maloney

Biography

With the fall release of her debut album "Cozy Razor's Edge", Heather Maloney is quickly becoming known for her powerhouse performances, highly original songwriting, memorable melodies, "knock-you-dead vocals" (Valley Advocate), and evocative lyricism.

After a short time, there is already a wealth of enthusiastic response from the press:
"Sharp, poignant lyrics housed in clever acoustic compositions, accented by Maloney's melodious, 'operatic' tendencies, are really what separates her music from straight ahead, folky pop tunes. You have to hear it to fully understand." (Portsmouth Herald)
"Stunning folk-rock... emotional lyrics and tender moans tucked in tight with brisk musicianship." (Worcester Magazine)
"...the embodiment of folk goddess Joni Mitchell, with moments of the mystifying agony of Alanis Morrissette mixed with the charming loneliness of the Cranberries." (Rochester City Newspaper)

Heather's winding musical path proves to be just as intriguing as the music itself.
Writing and performing jazz-pop with Grammy Nominee Hui Cox in Manhattan, studying classical operatics, classical Indian, and improvisational vocals, dropping everything to live at a silent meditation retreat center: these are the experiences that have formed Heather Maloney; her voice, her sound, her song.

She has been compared to Feist, Joni Mitchell, Regina Spektor, Beth Orten, the Cranberries, Alanis Morrissette and Paula Cole, but as Seven Days or Burlington puts it, Heather "boasts her own entirely singular charm."

"Cozy Razor's Edge" is a compellingly diverse collection of songs, each one alive, inspired and individual. From the peppy playfulness of the title track"Cozy Razor's Edge" to the poetic intricacy of "Night-Weaver", this album will take you through the depths of the human experience.
Maloney describes this record as her "heart-felt effort to integrate music and awareness, creativity and presence; the intention to dance along the line between sound and silence." It's that Cozy Razor's Edge!
