Welcome to a new era in pop music. Holiday is a hook-based, high-energy, alternative pop band based out of Minneapolis. Within their first year Holiday, Michael James Olson(Bass) Steve Osvold(Guitar) Jon kapla(Drums) and Nick Emmell(vocals) took the Northwest Minnesota scene by storm, creatihng a buzz with their energetic stage presence, witty crowd interaction, and infectious pop melodies. Their debut album, "Living with the Fallout" (2004) quickly sold more than 1,500 copies and garnered regional press and radio attention.
Holiday moved to Minneapolis in early 2006 and quickly exploded onto the regional scene. Holiday won the new American Band competition in St. Paul and took first place in the Cities 97 Basillica Block Party competition - landing them a featured spot on the Star Tribune Stage. Holiday's high energy music was prominently featured at Minnesota Vikings football games, as well as Minnesota Wild hockey games. Holiday taped a 30-minute special for PBS entitled "Soundcheck" that aired to an estimated 50,000 people in September, 2006.
Holiday's latest release, "Fashionable Late" (2005) gained national college-radio airplay on more than 250 stations, and notched a top-100 spot on the RIYL music charts. The record helped Holiday embark on their most extensive tour yet, racking up nearly 150 dates in 2005 and traveling from Minneapolis to Texas to the East Coast. On the road, Holiday headlined and opened for bands including Everclear, Violent Femmes, Better than Ezra, Semisonic, Josh Turner, and Rick Springfield.
Holiday performed at the NACA Northern Plains Conference booking 40 college shows throughout the Midwest. In June 2006, Holiday recorded their third album with producers Chris Grainger and Russ Long(Sixpence None The Richer, Switchfoot) in Nashville TN. Their music has been featured on MTV, NBC, CBS and PBS.
