Honey Brown

Honey Brown

When you think of the name Honey Brown, the words sweet, smooth, rich, seductive, and natural come to mind. These words are also used to describe Honey Brown’s soulful, vocal and creative lyrical style. Honey Brown embodies the heart and soul of all her inspirations, Chaka Khan, Stevie Wonder, Donnie Hathaway, Phillis Hyman, Mary J. Blige, Babyface, and acclaimed song writer Diane Warren, just to name a few.

With a yearning to be a singer as early as the age of five, Timeka Stewart practiced and sang songs in the mirror. Hair brush in hand doubling as a microphone Timeka mimicked her favorite singers not knowing that she was designing and laying the foundation for an exciting but expected metamorphose in the form of Honey Brown. “I always knew I had talent, even at that age,” she says. “My creativity and vocal abilities just grew as I grew.”
Hailing from Dallas, Texas, Timeka Stewart a.k.a Honey Brown began recording and performing as co-founder, lead singer and songwriter of female R & B trio, The Whole 9 at Louisiana’s Grambling State University. Since moving to Atlanta, Honey Brown has spent most of her time in the studio honing and perfecting her skills as a writer, producer and vocalist. Honey Brown has been blessed to work with several acclaimed producers of some of today’s top artists as Whitney Houston, 702, Kenny Latimore, Nelly, Faith Evans, Usher, SWV, Destiny’s Child, Dave Hollister, Jaheim and more. An impressive performer, Honey made her mark on stage as a featured artist on the 2003 ASCAP/Smirnoff Urban Education Tour and the BET/Pantene Pro-v Total You Tour. She also was recently featured in the new artist spotlight on the Bobby Jones Gospel countdown. Being compared to the likes of Aretha, Chaka, and Whitney, Honey Brown is set to take her place among those talented songbirds whose songs touched the heart and soul of every listener. Honey Brown’s music is sure to do the same, while earning her the solid fan base and following as her music mentors and inspirations. Writing all of her own songs has been a definite impact on Honey Brown’s music. “I write what I’ve experienced,” she says. “I don’t mind collaborating, but it’s just more natural for me to write and write from the heart. It just flows. My music is just an extension of who I am.”

While Honey Brown has just released an official album she’s poised and ready for the limelight and being sought after by several major labels. Timeka Stewart and alter ego Honey Brown remain focused and grounded. “I still participate in local talent events and perform at clubs whenever the opportunity presents itself,” she says. In addition to being featured on this summer’s Urban Education Tour, Honey Brown has headlined at several of Atlanta’s hottest venues including The Velvet Room, Visions Night Club, and The Rialto Center for the Performing Arts and The Georgia World Congress Center.
Honey Brown says her debut album is sure to take listeners through a myriad of experiences that someone from almost every age group, background, and demographic can relate to. “Music is supposed to heal, inspire, set the mood as well make you bob yo’ head and move yo’ feet,” she points out. “My debut album will definitely consist of songs that everyone could relate to and appreciate no matter who you are or where you’re from.” Make way for The Definition of New Urban Soul!!!
