Hookjaw Brown grew up in Santa Cruz, and when the fishing died in the area, he moved to a drinking town with a fishing problem. Early on he decided that fishing was a lot like working. He would sit next to the only
store and play his guitar for fish and beer.
He got tired of fish and rushing water and went to Utah to try and forget about fishing. While playing at the Three Legged Dog Saloon, he met Elwood Garcia. The Elwood Garcia Band was formed in the early 80's in Utah. It was known as a hard drinking band around whom women and drugs were not safe. Elwood discovered he was allergic to alcohol. It made him break out in misdemeanors and occasional felonies. Hookjaw Brown began writing songs with his friends that reflect his life. Hookjaw covers acoustic guitar, electric rhythm and lead guitar, bass, Tenor and Alto saxophone (plus some keyboards), and vocals. See the website at www.hookjawbrown.com and sign up for our blog.
