Hubert Tubbs

Biography

I was the first child born to Willard and Delia Mae Tubbs in Dallas, Texas. When I was 6 yrs old, I was attending a church service at Riverside Baptist Church, I was touched by the Spirit and suddenly began to yell and sing in church and I have been singing ever since.

After high school, I was drafted into the army where I again sang to friends and myself while serving in the Viet Nam War. I received an honorable discharge from the army.

After Viet Nam I moved to Northern California and started a 10 piece band with two other singers, Chuck and Tony Norman. The Band was called Blue Mountain and got pretty well know in the San Francisco Bay Area. Within 5 yrs the band was opening for such well known acts like, Buddy Miles, Sons of Chaplain, Santana, Steve Miller, Boz Scaggs, and Tower of Power.

Out of this came the opportunity for me to sing lead vocals with Tower of Power. I sang and traveled the world meeting even more famous artists and producers; Quincy Jones, Joe Sample, Herbie Hancock, The Rolling Stones, The Jazz Crusaders and many others.

I am now living and singing in Vienna, Austria, with my wife, Elizabeth. We have a daughter, Vanessa, in San Francisco, who is happily married to Cody Wilkins, they have two daughters, Tatiana and Paloma. I also have a son, Jason who also lives in Northern, CA . In 2006, while visiting me in Vienna, Jason and I were at Vigen Records and on a lark Jason wrote some rap lyrics about one of his experiences ... - he rapped and I sang and the song is on my debut solo cd, Dive In. It was a special moment and I love that I could include this on my debut solo cd!

I am getting my band, Sweat, together to begin touring and playing my music throughout Central Europe. I am also recording and working with some of Europe's best dj's as a guest artist on a wide variety of projects.
