ARTIST BIO: IT’S A SECRET
IT'S A SECRET combine the topics of futurism, philosophy, political science,
science fiction, technology, and theosophy into a modern 21st century sound,
utilizing analog and digital electronic music technologies.
Peter Panos, performing as IT’S A SECRET, released his debut electronic music
album entitled Save The World in December of 2006 under the Peter Panos Music
record label.
The thirteen songs on the album were recorded on a computer DAW (Digital Audio
Workstation). In addition to composing with the digital renderings of actual
instruments (sampled instrument loops), various acoustic instruments were played;
such as a 19th century alto horn, a mandolin, and a Tibetan singing bell. The album
also features eBow electric guitar, theremin, and various analog and digital
synthesizers.
Prior to forming the project IT'S A SECRET, Peter was a founding member in a synth
band called S.Q.U.I.D. (Society for the Qualitative Understanding of Informational
Design).
SQUID had achieved some notable success prior to its dissolution. Musical scores
for a television show and a feature film were composed; the band had their own 30
minute television special which was a documentary called The Great Squid Hunt and
featured the music video Cybernetic Information (produced by Brady Hicks); and
were also guest hosts for their segment on a music special for Radio Free
Europe/Radio Liberty which aired the band’s music to an audience of over 5 million
people.
The guest artists that appear in Save The World include Glenn Fisher (Cofounder of
SQUID); arrangements on “My Fantasy”, Brady Hicks (former video artist for SQUID);
theremin on “Theremin Rhythm”, and The Guru; Tibetan singing bowl on “Mantra”.
Lyrics, vocals, and all additional instruments are by Peter.
The mastering of the album Save The World was performed by Grammy Award
Nominee Myles Boisen (Myles operates the Headless Buddha Mastering Lab in
Oakland California, is an accomplished musician, and is a frequent editorial
contributor to Electronic Musician magazine).
