Ian Kalev Michaels was born in Bakersfield, California on October 1st, 1957 and lived in various parts of that state for the first 20 years of his life. With 3 older brothers who were all musically inclined, he got his first vocal and piano lessons at the early age of 4. At the age of 10, he was writing songs and received his first guitar at 12.
In High School, he was chosen to be listed in Who's Who in Music in American High Schools for his outstanding achievements recognized then by his High School Band and Choir Director.

He left the clubs and began attending a church in Va. Beach where he led worship and began writing songs of a faith-based nature.
In 1986, he moved to Israel where he lived for 4 1/2 months learning Hebrew and playing for various events. While there, he had the opportunity to work as an actor for 2 Christian videos; one with Dallas Holmes and the other with British artist Adrian Snell.
In 1992 , Ian attended the annual conference of Messianic Jewish Congregations and began assisting in the worship for various artists of that movement such as Paul Wilbur, Joel Chernoff, Marty Goetz and Barry and Batya Segal.
In '94, Ian took part in another music video where he was given a key role as the harmonica playing minstrel to open and close the footage of "Press On" by Billy Sprague.
In '96, Ian released "Beyond The Veil" with 14 originals superbly co-produced by Michael J. Nelson, the writer of the original 700 Club theme.
“Renaissance” is the instrumental project of another 14 originals released in December of 2012. Ian is currently working on a lyrical project entitled “Process of Illumination” to be released in the summer of 2013.
