Sounds & cultures from all regions of the planet have an impact on the Illuminertia sound which draws from a wide range of influence and ethos. The sonic architecture is comprised of the best of Electronic, Tribal House, IDM, Dubstep and Soul. All Digital Elements are Blended with Organic Analog Instrumentation & Voice. Embedded in the sonic landscape is a message of hope, humanity, evolution, ecology, self discovery and a higher consciousness. The lyrics are designed to propel consciousness forward to a higher vibration breaking down old archaic systems of thought that are destroying the planet. Singer, songwriter, lyricist, guitarist, keyboardist, nose flautist, hand drummer, poet, sound engineer and visual artist Modean first pick up piano and guitar at age seven. He then chugged it up in some experimental hardcore bands as a teenager in the 90's. After that the helped form an experimental hip hop group called Audible around 2000-2004 and rocked the Zephyr in Salt Lake City. During the end of the Audible days he played rhodes, keyboards and guitars in an indie rock group called Landcaster in 2004. Finally, he relocated to the bay area and conceived the project that is Illuminertia in 2005 (www.audiblesounds.com).
Upon his arrival in San Francisco 2005 Modean began working with touring bass player of the Digable Planets Bubba Jones. The most recent collaboration entitled March Into the Sun was a collaboration with Scrote (Strip Miners & Pucifer) and drummer Earl Harvin who plays with the notorious french Electronic group known as (Air). In 2010 Illuminertia won the December Relix Magazine Jamoff with a song called 'Soothsayer'. The song 'What's Good for You' made it into the top 500 on the billboard charts in the World Song Contest. The project was also featured in a full page spread in Under The Radar Magazine. Illuminertia artwork has been featured in the last two issues of COSM journal produced by Alex Grey and friends at Cosmpress. Alex is an incredible visionary artist who is working on building a magnificent sacred temple that will house all of his visionary paintings called the Chapel of Sacred Mirrors. Finally, though there aren't any tablas recorded on the recent albums it is interesting to note that Modean studied tablas for a year under the honorable Salar Nader who is a world renowned tabla player and disciple of the amazing Zakir Hussain.
