Intensive Care

Biography

Let's just say that the band members met at a doll collectors' convention in Montreal where one of them (undisclosed) got a distinction award. Very proud of his achievement, the lucky winner went on to chat with other contestants. One thing led to another and intensive care was born.

After 3 EPs, 2 name-spelling changes and 64 dolls collected, intensive care is now ready to unveil Fairytales from the Island, their latest attempt at creating decent pop songs out of nervous structures, complex chords, mad scientist arrangements and enigmatic lyrics. They were aided in their quest by local baron Jace Lasek, who helped shape the songs and arrangements and give them a unique voice. The album was recorded over two short sessions at the fabulous Breakglass studio in Montreal.

Even though the band members will swear they know very little music from the 1970s (and you should believe them), inevitable comparisons to prog bands such as Pink Floyd, King Crimson and Genesis can be made and always surprise them. Other comparisons to modern rock bands (Animal Collective, Sigur Ros) and even british stadium bands (Placebo, Muse) have been thrown at them, and were met with enthusiasm and humility.

What’s next you may ask? When you find out, please let them know.
