Irie (pronounced ‘eye-ree’) is a Jamaican patois word that means 'feeling great', and the music of IRIE TIME® has been described as "a blend of reggae, soca and dub grooves that is just about as refreshing as a bottle of Ting grapefruit soda on a sweltering Trenchtown summer day." [The Houston Press] The band of culturally-diverse musicians has been performing for over a decade, and their CD releases consist of all original material. The group continues to break into new musical terrain by means of their songwriting.
While performing primarily throughout the Texas-Louisiana region, IRIE TIME has done dates in Detroit, Tucson and Miami promoting their releases Stateside, and has performed shows in a number of European cities. Tracks from the band’s Island Romance CD were recorded in Kingston, Jamaica and were produced by legendary guitarist Earl ‘Chinna’ Smith of the Wailers band, and Ziggy Marley and the Melody Makers. A collection of IRIE TIME’s songs entitled Reggae Hits Volume 1, along with two videos, were released nationwide in the country of New Guinea. Their recent CD, Live Up, was a high-energy, concert album featuring the band performing new songs, as well as songs from their previous albums.
Their highly-anticipated new CD, In Another Time, features more new songs from the group and includes dub versions, as well as a Spanish mix, on the same disc. It is expected to draw widespread attention to the band's unique combination of Caribbean jazz, reggae, soca and dub, and herald an international touring schedule in 2012.
