MULTI-GIFTED COMPOSER, Irma Yamaguchi has successfully built "HER GRAND UNIVERSE"
with a very distinctive style of expression.
Because of her unusual and interesting background, her sound world has evolved into a unique combination of music and culture. Irma's influences include Romanticism in the 19th century, Piano Music,Italian Opera, Italian language, Brazilian classical music and MPB.
Roberto Menescal,Oscal Castro Neves,Christos Hatzis,Zeca Pagodinho and many other mentors have admired her talent,composing,arranging,playing and singing. Through her really original approach,she has bridged the gap between classical and popular music with her innovative blending of world cultures. She has realized that compositions of great composers of the past is not always accessible for people in the modern era. She feels it's her mission to introduce a new interpretation to classical music FOR THE LISTENERS OF TODAY,with contemporary rhythms and musical feelings.
Born in Tokyo. Her father was an expert singer. Her mother was a painter and also a dress designer. Her uncle is a researcher of classical music. At a very early age, she noticed the worth of the art of Frédéric Chopin, Maria Callas and Luchino Visconti and started her musical studies.
She sang in the church choir as a soloist for nine years.
Her professional music career began as a pianist and a composer at ballet companies. At the same time, she sang in some musicals acting in the main roles. After a while, she was invited to join a professional jazz band and won several prizes.
Since she had been always searching her own music, traveling, living and learning all over the world more than fourty countries.
In 2005, a first-line drummer and producer Teo Lima, who worked with Antonio Carlos Jobim,Dionne Warwick,Sergio Mendes,Caetano Veloso,Ivan Lins and many others, found out extraordinary talent of Irma.He produced her debut album "Voz e Piano - Bossa Mediterrânea NUOVA" released in 2007.with all his might, to get abroad her music all over the world.
In 2007, she made her world debut and started to perform in concerts around the world.
In 2007, her composition named "Per Dove?" (TRACK #14 of her debut album"Voz e Piano - Bossa Mediterrânea NUOVA" / Available at CDBaby.com, Amazon.com and iTunes)were recognized as Honorable Mentions at Unisong International Contest,in USA.
In 2009,her composition named "Bossa Nova Canta"(TRACK #11 of her debut album "Voz e Piano" - Bossa Mediterrânea NUOVA" / Available at CDBaby.com,Amazon.com and iTunes) were recognized as Top Finalists at Unisong International Contest,in USA.
Since 2008, she has concentrated on composing, especially CLASSICAL PIANO SOLO WORKS.
Since 2010,she focused more on composing and performing her own CLASSICAL PIANO WORKS.
