JAMES THOMPSON

Biography

My name is James Thompson. I love music, I think everybody loves music and I would like to share some of my thoughts with you.
I grew up in some interesting times; being a teenager and growing up in the 1960s in California. I was listening to everything and anything on the radio: r&b, rock,
soul, pop, jazz and blues. I was profoundly influenced by this music, and also by the turbulent times in America of the 60’s.
Already a bass player at age 13, I started playing alto sax in the school band two years later. I was playing school dances, battle of the bands, private parties, you name it.
In 1973 I left the university and went on the road with musicians that were school buddies.
We did concerts mainly in southern California and the west coast. We also toured Canada and Japan.
I arrived in Italy in the summer of 1983 with Andy J. Forest, a longtime friend, and have lived in “Il Bel Paese” ever since.
I’ve had the pleasure to record and tour with artists like Paolo Conte, Jestofunk, Timoria, Tommy Vee and Zucchero, with whom I’ve toured from 1987 to the latest
“All the Best World Tour” (2007- 2008).
Outside of touring I've fronted many different musical situations from blues to funk and soul to pop. Now I'm singing and playing my songs with a great a bunch of musicians in the "JT Live Project".
Come and take a brief excursion into my kaleidoscopic music world.
