Jenny Colon was born in New York City. She is of Puerto Rican decent. She was raised between New York and Puerto Rico. She developed incredible love for her music and culture at a very young age. Her favorite show at the age of three was “El Show de Iris Chacon”. Jenny registered in a community dance and singing school. She then started performing in talent shows, TV shows, parades, dance groups, festivals and other events.
During the late 90’s, Jenny Colon heard about a talent show that was taking place at the famous club “Latin Quarters” in NYC. She was the first place winner of the talent show out of twenty-five contestants.
Jenny studied acting at the Puerto Rican Traveling Theater and HB Studios in NYC. She also studied voice at Boys Harbor. She worked on her talent while working a full time job. She continued going to acting and singing auditions on her spare time. Jenny has worked on a few great projects; “El Cantante” starring Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony”, Independent films; Crazy Young Criminals, Smoke Gets In Your Eyes, and in a comedy show “Que Le Parece” on Telemundo. She also performed in a play called “My Life as an Island” at the NY Rican Poets Café but still following towards her dream of becoming a “Salsa Singer”
Jenny Colon had the opportunity to meet Producer and Arranger, Isidro Infante. Isidro signed Jenny Colon to his label. She recorded her first CD entitle “YO SOY JENNY COLON.” featuring Nemesis. This CD was a mix of Salsa and Reggaeton. Infante decided to produce this type of music, since it was the hottest thing in the market at the time. Her first single, "Celosa", played in the states on most commercial radio like La Mega 97.9. She’s done interviews with Univision and Telemundo on variety shows. Jenny believes in “Following your dreams, believing in yourself and remember that disappointment is part of success". The last and most important thing: never lose your human values and self respect.
This new release has Sabor (Flavor). It was produced by “Ernie Acevedo” bandleader of Conjunto Imagen and President of Muziq Inc. Records. Ernie Acevedo has 35 years of experience in the Salsa industry. In this new release Jenny worked with different Arrangers like; Luis Perreira, Willie Ruiz, Maximo Rodriguez, Rene Levy, Pedro Bermudez and others.
