Biography

John "JT" Thompson grew up in central Pennsylvania, but soon found himself in Louisiana, playing the Blues and absorbing bayou culture. After a Biloxi hurricane, JT headed to Atlanta, where he continued working up and down the East coast. He later joined Lotsa Poppa (400 Lbs of Soul) touring the Southeast and appearing regularly at Atlanta Blues clubs.

In 2002, Thompson returned home to Pennsylvania, where his Blues & Boogie piano playing has made him a fixture on the local music scene. He’s been a Jamarama host on the Legendary Rhythm & Blues Cruise, and his solo CD “Chase Away Your Blues” has garnered praise, extending his popularity beyond the Pennsylvania mountains.

JT is the 2010 Billtown Blues Challenge winner in the Solo/Duo category and will be representing the Billtown Blues Association in Memphis TN for the 2011 International Blues Challenge.
