Why did you choose the rap name Jus-B?
Jus B
I actually thought I was being authentic (HA!) until I saw how many people actually used it so you know I had to get my copy write game up. I think it’s simple, and it comes from people always calling me “B” when I was growing up I just added the “Jus” part and it stuck, now people call me “Jus” (HA!)

When did you know you had a knack for making music?
Jus B
Ummm, I would say like early 2002. A friend of mine Melt D (shout to my man Melt) gave me a Marvin Gaye instrumental and told me to write something to it. At first I looked at him like he was crazy you know (HA!) like what, then he explained it to me then you know I took it from there. Now don’t get me wrong those early recordings aren’t any platinum hits but they really set the foundation and gave me an outlet to express myself.

So rap wasn’t something you just knew you had a gift for?
Jus B
No not at all, man I wanted to be a Fire Fighter when I was growing up (HA!) straight up until I saw that movie “Back Draft” then it was time to find a different profession (HA!)
Interviewer
What type of music were you listening to when you were growing up?
Jus B
Awww man my mother loved music, but rap wasn’t big in my life until I was like in middle school. I heard a little of everything. Steele Pulse, Bob Marley, Anita Baker, New Edition, Heavy D, Kool Moe D see you gotta understand when you are poor growing up with the 13 inch black and white television music is your only way to connect with what’s going on around you so it had to be diverse in my house because there was just so much going on at that time.

How old are you?
Jus B
(HA!) I’m a 80’s baby, can’t give you all my secrets already (HA!)
Interviewer
How would you describe your style?
Jus B
That’s kind of hard to do in all honesty because the beat actually dictates what type of style it wants you to generate but if I had to pen point it to a particular geographic location it would have to be southern I think since most of my life has been spent in that area of the world. But I’ve been blessed to see a lot so with that I’m able to cater to what the beat wants.

Tell your fans something about yourself we can’t find out on Google?
Jus B
(HA!) Ummm, I can’t count bars when I make tracks (HA!). Honestly I write my track in a poem format so I don’t count bars I count the actual lines I’ve made as I’m typing the track, and when I’m done I count them and if I have 32 line I know that’s 16 bars. Sometimes I’m off by one or two but never by much.
