Jack J Hutchinson

British guitarist and singer-songwriter Jack J Hutchinson has been gigging and recording for 15 years. Mixing guitar and vocal duties for a long list of bands, his new solo album 'Feathers and Fools' is due July 2013.

Riding the wave of the new British blues boom, Hutchinson’s playing has been described as ‘Peter Green meets Jimmy Page with a touch of Duane Allman.’ However, his influences go even further back with Elmore James, Mississippi Fred McDowell and Robert Johnson all having played a part in his evolution.

Growing up in the north west of England, Hutchinson’s first big break was playing at the Great British Rhythm and Blues Festival at the age of 15. His guitar-touting services were quickly in high demand, playing sessions for a range of bands at high profile studios including Universal Music in London.

This summer sees Hutchinson delivering on his own terms. His new album Feathers and Fools is 21st century blues at its best. Multi-dimensional guitar work meets sweeping vocals on melodic tracks that will pull the heart-strings.

The 14 new tracks were recorded in various places on the road over the last twelve months, including the Abruzzo mountains in Italy, Paris and his base in east London. The result is a diverse range of songs that shift from the stomach rumbling fuzz-infused blues of ‘Rhyme Not A Reason’, to the softer more introspective roots Americana of ‘Long Way Down’.

There is a melancholic feel to songs such as ‘Put Me In My Place’ and ‘All I Know’, influenced by a time of upheaval in Hutchinson’s personal life. But the ying and yang of the album if also evidenced in tracks such as ‘The Sun Rises Here’ which ultimately delivers a message of hope.

The Jack J Hutchinson Band will be touring 'Feathers and Fools' throughout the summer and autumn, with dates confirmed across London and the north west of England.
