Jacqueline Tschabold Bhuyan

Biography

Jacqueline Bhuyan was born in 1941 in Elkhart, Indiana. She began studying music at the age of 8, learning violin, viola, cello. percussion, piano and voice. Bhuyan went on to earn both B.A. and M.M. degrees in music. She taught music in college for several years (music theory/composition, history and appreciation, and piano), and has been composing piano music for four decades. Her music is very lyrical in style with rich harmonies, and is based largely on the Classical tradition, especially the Romantic and Impressionistic periods. She also draws upon folk and etnic elements and the harmonies of jazz from her long interest in a variety of musical traditions. A favorite pasttime is spending time in nature listening to the music of the wind through trees, rippling brooks, the river or ocean, birds singing, bees buzzing...and musing on the dance of tree branches in the wind, gliding butterflies, soaring birds, bees flitting among the flowers, the movement of clouds, the flow of a river. Bhuyan performs locally at various cultural events where her music is described in reviews as "beautiful, mesmerizing, unique harmonies, ethereal, and soothing, cinematic at times telling a story with a sense of mystery." Much of her music is very soothing .... "great for relaxing". "Global Impressions" includes a few tracks in dance style of different cultures. She also is now giving Master classes in music and composing, and works passionately as an advocate for music education in our schools. Bhuyan is married, and has two grown children. She resides in Westminster, Colorado, and is a recording artist at Immersive Studios in Boulder, Colorado. She is also a contributing artist to the "Jam Tracks" CD series of play-along-background tracks produced by Clint Goss of Manifest Spirit Records.
