JahMain KinG is a young man with a passion for people and he uses music as a tool to pass across a message of hope, inspiration and trust in God. He was born Ayotunde Oluwaremilekun Sanwoolu When called by God, he was inspired by the Holy Spirit to change his name to Jermaine A O Sanwoolu. His stage name JahMain KinG simple means JAH(God) is the MAIN KING
A British citizen, he was born in West Africa in the city of Lagos Nigeria, where he grew up. While studying estate/property management at the University of Lagos, He gave his life to Jesus on October 10 2002 and there began the amazing process transformation from the black sheep in the family to be a friend of God shining his light to the world.
Because of his passion for people he was made the head of the new believers class where he taught new converts about the Bible and Jesus Christ, it was here he built a solid scriptural foundation, which he would later use in song writing.
His music ministry started on the streets of Lagos in the slums and under the bridges where the destitute lived. He would pick up the microphone and preach and sing popular inspiring gospel songs to them. Later he was made the head of the outreach ministry and organized concerts where many young people would attend and souls would be saved.
He learnt to play the guitar on a follow up visit with a new convert where he saw the convert’s friend who promised to teach him to play the guitar and within a month he had learnt the basics.
The guitar was instrumental in JahMains KinG’s ministry as it led to him writing a lot of songs and singing them in the concerts.
Another love of JahMain KinG is basketball which he excelled at with many medals in Nigeria with his team. In fact he was the youngest and one of the most talented players to represent his University. In the midst of playing basketball, he founded a youth group called ‘Gogetters’. Through this group,he organised and also facilitated youth empowerment workshops and seminars and he produced 7 audio books. Being a ‘Go getter’ himself he was successful in his career, having jobs in in top Real estate, Banking and Market research companies in Nigeria.
JahMains KinG relocated to the UK in 2008 to pursue his sports and academic dreams. He won a basketball scholarship to represent the University of Bradford and together the team eventually won a Silver medal at the British University and College championships. His future plans were to get a Doctorate and be a Human Capital Development consultant. To this end he studied International Business and Management in the University of Bradford. God was however ordering his steps to pursue a different path.
The music inside him resurfaced again when he was encouraged to join the Praise Team in his local church (RCCG Chapel of Grace, Bradford) as a drummer. He was given the opportunity to minster in song by his Pastors Dr. Akpo & Andrea Onduku on a Sunday morning service with his guitar and sang a song he had written called ‘All Sovereign God’. It richly blessed the church and he was given a bigger opportunity by the Pastors to open the stage at a celebration event with Ron Kenoly hosted by RCCG Chapel of Grace in Bradford UK.
Their faith in him and the encouragement by Ron Kenoly put him on the journey to self-discovery and a truly unique ministry.
It was a struggle for him to accept the call of God into the ministry as he had just won the ICON awards for Achievement and Excellence given to top students with Nigerian backgrounds in the UK. He was also named the Social Enterprise Ambassador for the Bradford region to get youths involved in social entrepreneurship. Against all odds and criticisms he decided that the God who called Him was more than able to sustain him, therefore he obeyed the call and launched into the ministry.
HOLD ON Remix Single 2012
The success of HOLD ON led him to be noticed and mentored by an internationally acclaimed producer Danny Pier who has worked with the likes of gospel artists Bebe Winans and many secular artists like Robbie Williams, Alexandra Burke, Lammar and Baby Face, just to name a few.
He took a liking to JahMain’s style and unique way of presenting the gospel in an inspirational manner and said he wanted to give back to the church as his father was a Pastor in the United States.
This remix is set to take the message of hope in Jesus Christ to the world in a manner and language they understand.
