Jake Hilla

The best description of JAKE HILLA, is the music that he composed, produced, performed, recorded, edited, engineered, and mastered by himself. No million dollar studio. No million dollar microphones. Just a fire that fuels his passion as an artist and his continuing growth as a well rounded musician both in the studio and on the stage. The hunger that drives him to learn more about music, and the desire to be the very best that he can be in ANY situation. There have been many variables in Jake's life. But one constant, that is blatantly obvious to anyone who has ever met him, is his love for music. He is a multi-faceted artist that has been described as a "complete package," and is regarded as an up and comer and a trend-setter by his peers. Jake has worked with dozens of artists across the country, and through his travels, and experiences, started to develop a unique sound that blends jazz, hip-hop, soul, and electronic music (to name a few of the many genres he s influenced by), and still finds the time to run his newly developed record label/production company: Doppler Effect Entertainment.

Jake grew up as a jazz saxophonist in Northern Washington. It was during these years, he started to realize that his skills would not be confined to simply one genre. He started to experiment in many genres, from punk, to hip hop, to classical, and picked up multiple instruments to further his development as an instrumentalist. At the age of 18, he would become one of the recipients of the World Tour Scholarship from Berklee College of Music. It was at Berklee, that he discovered his ability to make beats, and rap and write lyrics. Armed with these new founded talents, he would drop out of school to travel and further his knowledge and growth as a rapper and a producer. Production and composition soon became his passion. You would often find Jake making beats, locked in his room for sometimes days on end, banging away on his keyboard, or penciling in notes one at a time on his computer. Pretty soon, he would return to Boston and land an internship at one of the top studios in the area: Sanctum Sound. Through this amazing opportunity, Jake started to build his business model and plan, and ultimately his road that he would take towards his successes in the music industry.

Jake currently lives in the Boston area with his beautiful girlfriend :), and is working on his next solo project: Event Horizon, along with several collaborations around town.
