Jake Leg were formed as 4-piece in the summer of 2005 in Thessaloniki, Greece. From the beginning they started working on original material. In 2006 they recorded a demo CD of their early work. They produced and mixed the cd themselves in the band’s home-studio (a.k.a. ‘The Basement’) . It received several positive reviews from music magazines and websites.
They continued working on original songs forming their own distinct sound: a mixture of alternative/indie rock with bluesy pop melodies and some rocking moments. Having enough material they recorded several songs in the RunDevilRun Studios in Thessaloniki between July-September 2008. The recordings were produced by Nikodimos Triaridis. Part of these recordings are featured on Jake Leg’s debut album.
In 2011 they recorded and produced an EP entitled “The Basement Sessions”. It contains some of their most experimental arrangements, as well as old tunes that have been reworked.
In late 2011 – early 2012 they recorded the rest of the songs of their debut album. Sessions took place in the Electroacoustics Lab of Aristoteleion University. Production and mastering were handled by Thanos S. and Demetris Christodoulides. They released the album independently on November 26th. You can check it out on CD Baby.
The band has appeared in numerous clubs and live-stages in their hometown and also receive frequent airplay from local and national radio stations.
