James Anthony Vocalist

James Anthony

James Anthony is an award winning vocalist with a uniquely beautiful tone. James' warm baritone voice give a wonderful perspective to the songs he sings, and with a 3 octave range, James vocalizes his songs to tell a story. The music is carefully selected from the Great American Songbook so as to bring the songs to life during his performances to preserve the essence of swing jazz music in his way.

James grew up in Las Vegas with his Irish/Italian family & relatives from the late 1960s - all who worked in the casino business - and these rare ingredients gave James the true classic Vegas traditions and surrounded him with the constant big band sounds of Sinatra, Elvis, Dino, Tom Jones, Bobby Darin, Doris Day and so on. This cat's got it in his blood, and man does he deliver!

James' history involved his family moving from Queens, NY, to Las Vegas in 1968 when he was 8 years old. His parents started him in music classes that year where he started playing drums and percussion in grade school and then began singing throughout his four years in high school as a baritone/bass. Singing within the varsity & male choirs gave James the of harmonic tones and the love of the voice and as a drummer, the timing came naturally. His phrasing combined with that timing are unbelievable and people think he is lip-sinking or working with auto-tune. His voice is so unique that it draws you in.

James is a Naval Aviation Veteran and after honorably serving our country in the U.S. Navy for 6 1/2 years, James returned to music to begin a successful music career in Los Angeles and Vegas. James performed as a session drummer/percussionist and backup singer with various record labels including RCA Records, The Studios and the GMA Agency's artists as a national touring agency artist during the 80s. James is certainly no stranger to the music industry.

James began performing the jazz standards during 2009 and strangely enough has been dubbed "The Voice" from fellow musicians and the Las Vegas Sun Newspaper due to his warm yet powerful tone. This can be heard in such songs as Blues In The Night, Guess I'll Hang My Tears Out To Dry and his unbelievable rendition of Old Man River to list a few. James brings back that sound from an era of when the song writers had "Authors Magic".
Residing in the Washington DC area, James performs throughout the Nation with the finest musicians and performers touching the emotions of audiences everywhere. I know you will enjoy James music too.
