Jan Swerts

Jan Swerts (Sint-Truiden, Belgium, May 24, 1977) is a Belgian composer and pianist, whose minimal music is heavily influenced by the work of Wim Mertens, Philip Glass, George Winston and Max Richter.

In 2010 he released the album “Weg” (“Gone” or “A Way” in English); a collection of 8 melancholic songs about certain streets in Belgium: Aalsterweg 10, Driekruisenstraat 107, Singelstraat 11, Alkenstraat 9...are all addresses that made a lasting impression on the composer.

The music of Jan Swerts is often referred to as minimal music, ambient or contemporary classic.
