Jana Runnalls

Biography

Jana started recording 'improvised ritual music' in 1985 with her first Goddess album'Ancestral Dream', which became well-known in women's circles. She has since made many other albums, honouring the Sacred Feminine, the Sacred Marriage and the Sacred Circle of Life.

From a background of classical, folk, jazz and blues singing, including singing in the bands 'OVA' and 'Wild Women', Jana now lives on the 'Isle of Avalon', Glastonbury, England, where she teaches both sacred chanting and shamanic drumming. Jana has also travelled extensively around Europe and the US, performing and teaching sacred chanting and drumming circles for many years. Her spiritual background is Wiccan, Buddhist and Shamanic Medicine Wheel teachings - her albums reflect this broad spectrum of influences with Pagan songs, Sanskrit chanting, Shamanic drumming and Native American chants. Jana's vocal style is quite unique, from the depths of the earth to dizzy ululating heights... it creates a musical tapestry which is rich with life experience and sacred intent.
