Jason is the son of Raymond and Sheila Mitchell, born on June 23, 1973 in Portland, Oregon. He is one of nine children and Jason singled himself out as the only musical talent in the family at the young age of 10, becoming a part of the Mt. Olivet Chapel Youth Choir. Jason continued to add skill to his singing gift throughout his schooling singing as a tenor in the Cleveland High School Acapella Ensemble, where he led the group to the State Finals in his sophomore year. In 1991, Jason was elected to attend the youth Music and Art’s Camp at Willamette University in Salem, Oregon, and was a participating member of Clackamas Community Jazz Choir.
In 1993, Jason was blessed to be a part of Heaven Bound Gospel Music Ministries, an Intercity Gospel Choir that traveled around the world ministering the word of God in song, which allowed him to meet and sing with many talented and gifted artists such as Reverend John P. Kee, Dorinda Clark-Cole, Fred Hammond, Shawn MacLamore, Isaac & Lowell of the group Men of Standard, and Israel Houghton. This was the same year that Jason became a background singer for national recording artist, Tracey Harris.
Since that time, Jason has had the pleasure of meeting and working with Jerry Harris, Brian McKnight, Star Chile, Eric & Anson Dawkins, Tim Miner, Ruben Studdard, Kirk Franklin, Brandon Woods, J. Moss, Karen Clark-Sheard, 112, Hawaii’s own Fiji, and Nicole Scherzinger, just to name a few.
Jason resided in Portland, Oregon and relocated to Hawaii in 2005, to the island of Oahu. He became a member of Word of Life Christian Center in Honolulu, Hawaii and served as a Praise and Worship Team Leader. Jason is now pursuing his musical career and sings under the name of Jason, and is the founder of J Image Entertainment.
Mr. Mitchell is a dedicated family man, enjoys time with his wife Allison, and their three boys, Jaylen, Jayden, and Joshua. He loves basketball, running, working out, going to the beach, and enjoys ministering to children, who are less fortunate. Jason also has a passion for detailing vehicles and spends many hours watching his children’s sporting events.
Jason’s greatest influences are his two Grandmothers, Rodesa Mitchell and Cleo Harding, who taught him to keep God first at a very young age. Even after the passing of his grandmothers, Jason never forgot their valuable teaching and will always remember them for their strong influence on his spiritual life, always encouraging him to love those around him and more importantly, to love God.
