"Jawara" means "peace loving"!

Two things the majority of us try to be, or seek in life, but are the meaning of this recording artists name. He was born in the East End of London to St.Lucian parents and is the embodiment of these two words. Jawara´s current single Don´t you say no, is the present chapter of a career spent in search of "Finding his voice". He is a rare artist in the music industry at this point in time.

A deep voiced singer that can take it to church on the dance side of things, while laying a vocal of hot buttered bedroom soul, similar to the likes of Ceelo Green or
Aloe Blacc.

The former graduate of Paul McCartney´s "Fame School" in Liverpool was in various bands in England and then on tour in Spain for a few years perfecting his craft as a live artist while releasing cover singles and original material. Anastasia sang about it, and he has definitely Paid his dues and is ready for THE BIG TIME.

For the past couple of years Jawara, who was managed by Yaffayo, the former lead singer of KWS, has truly found himself as a human being and as an artist while working on new material for his album. He says "All my favourite male singers of today and the last 10 years or more are tenors. Which made it difficult for me to fully embrace my deeper tone", but he goes on to say "I began to go back a bit further and really tune in to Teddy Pendergrass, Barry White and Isacc Hayes, and through listening to them I now know having a deep voice makes me something different for a contemporary audience".

Thus the title of his album "Finding my voice" fits perfectly with his journey as an artist and where he is in his life at the moment. Don´t you say no is the most recent single of an album packed with up tempo classics for the clubs and Nu Silky Soul songs to kick back and really listen to. With the common thread of his distinctive voice woven throughout.

While having songs like Love, love, love and There´s something about you already under his belt and completely in the same vain as Don´t you say no, you might ask the question could Jawara be the new popular soul sensation of 2012? Many would say yes! You take a listen to his latest single and draw your own conclusions.
