I suppose the evolution of my music career began in the 1960s when I was
influenced by the success of the Motown acts, the emergence of the Stax
Memphis sound, and Aretha Franklin crossing over to pop music in a big way.
I also was impressed by the innovation of the late 60s funk bands spearheaded
by Sly & the Family Stone.
Additionally, I am a fiction writer, and I worked on music between writing projects.
In the 70s I got a few nibbles from record companies, but they never panned out.
In the 80s I performed occasionally at open mike venues. In the 90s I wrote the
lyrics to a few tunes other artists recorded, In the 2000s, with the emergence of
internet sites like iTunes I went back to music and wrote and composed my own
works.
In this era of music I feel like I can mix genres and styles to get the maximum
potential out of a song. I could use old school R&B lyrics and mix them with hip
hop or neo soul beats. Or use funk band horns mixed with Stevie Wonder type
electronic sounds.

Stay cool everybody.
