Jazzy Burn's

Biography

Recorded in Hells Kitchen, New York, Color Bars is the latest electronic release from Jazzy Burn's. Color Bars is an interplanetary TV station beaming in from outer space, built on a foundation of influences, ranging from Miles and Herbie to Joe Zawinul.

Jazzy Burn's is the original name of a Jazz Fusion Trio formed in the early eighties, helmed by Beau Tardy (piano / electric piano / synths) and featuring Philippe Derain (electric organ / synths) and Philippe Soirat (drums).  The trio, originally based in Europe, was very much influenced by the fusion jazz-rock sound of Miles Davis, Herbie Hancock and Weather Report. After playing a series of wildly successful live gigs, the band splintered apart, pursuing individual ambitions.  Beau Tardy would go on to perform in the new wave group Notre Dame and the little known industrial noise group, Spazmodics. After relocating to the U.S., he continued to play with a number of underground New York bands. Philippe Derain gained notice as touring keyboardist for the French cover band No Smoking, while Philippe Soirat became a much sought after session jazz drummer playing worldwide alongside Lee Konitz, Dee Dee Bridgewater, Horace Parlan, Ray Brown, Ricky Ford, Gordon Beck and Yannick Rieu.

Beau Tardy kept the name Jazzy Burn's, and went on to become a composer/ producer matching his Parsons-trained zooty animating art shorts with original soundtracks for the likes of MTV worldwide.  In the mid-2000s, under the auspices of the Jazzy Burn's name, Beau joined the Warper Party collective.  As a hotbed of world renowned electronic music innovation, Warper featured an array of international artists bent on experimenting at the interface between technology and art.  Results featured beats delivered on such lateral formats as cellos connected to computers, to shoes and steering wheels used as DAW controllers.

The legendary electronic Warper soirées debuted in downtown Manhattan and Brooklyn where Jazzy Burn's performed an array of live electro-fusion-jazz sets. Listening on, East Coast DJ/ producer Atom was inspired enough to suggest a collaboration with Jazzy Burn's, yielding the dance album, ColorBars. Additionally, Jack Dangers of Meat Beat Manifesto fame selected a Jazzy Burn's track in a remix contest organized by Ableton. This led to the track 'Jazzy's Wild' featured on the album TV5 tévé-cinque by Jazzy Burn's.

Life and music continue for Jazzy Burn's.  In 2007, the original Jazzy Burn's trio regrouped for a 5 day recording session in a studio in the tiny rural artist haven of St. Julien in central France. The result is the much acclaimed, dreamy electro-jazzscape, 'St. Julien Sessions', which features the now mature chops of Tardy, Derain and Soirat, once again united in the quest for the creation of the perfect groove.

Beau Tardy continues to write and play music from his own studio in the southern United States.  He is now is working on his fourth Jazzy Burn's album, 'Audio For Video', to be released by Oopazz® Recordings in 2012.
