Arthur Miller once said he looked forward to seeing what his plays inspired in others. In his spirit, I handed these songs, most of them mine, to Brad Phillips and Dominic Davis. The only thing I told them was to play what they heard. Oh, did they ever. Mr. Miller was right. There is no greater joy than to hear talented artists like Brad, Dom, as well as Josh, Amanda, Ben, Steve, Brett, Colleen, and Mark take your songs and make 'em sing. Enjoy this one. Live At The Purple Rose

A collection of songs performed live at The Purple Rose Theatre, a not-for-profit theatre Jeff Daniels founded in his hometown of Chelsea, MI. The music combines storytelling with a bit of folk-country and a dash of blues. In August '09, I played five sold-out shows at The Purple Rose Theatre in Chelsea, Michigan. Since it's my theatre, it was easy to book. A not-for-profit professional company that produces New American Plays, everything I might make from this CD goes straight to them. So thanks for supporting the arts. We're all better for it. As an actor, I learned very quickly that no matter how many times I performed something, I had to make it look like it was happening for the first time. Same thing with music. After all the rehearsals, all the practice and the never ending search for the perfect set list, a live performance is best when it's....well, alive.
