I thought I wanted to compose music for video games in my early twenties. I hung out with the G.A.N.G. and jammed with the best in the business (playing a melodica Tommy Tallarico lent me). I composed an entire soundtrack for Quest for Glory 4.5, an adventure game sequel, called "So You Thought You Heard It All?" I had begun a couple other songs for an upcoming game that died shortly after a promising start and interview at E3. But composing on demand wasn't what I wanted to do. Deadlines on creativity just don't make much sense to me.
So now, I write music and lyrics to glorify my Savior, Jesus Christ. When a scripture leaps from the living words of the Bible, or a sermon quickens my heart, or I encounter something so magnificent in God's creation, I put it all down on paper, then on ProTools and see what happens. Before I begin to sound too holy, I also remain grounded by writing and recording parodies of the best new songs - but these parodies have spiritual implications. I won't say they always direct the listener down the path one should choose, but in every case, the truth of scripture is felt.
Oh, and I'm a funk man. I like all sorts of stuff, but the funky stuff really gets me going. I play keyboard and sing... in that order. And as much as I like funk, you'd never know it to hear me sing. I've said before "White Voice, Black Hands." Enjoy the music. There's more coming.
