Jeff Mellin is a multi-disciplinary artist, singer, guitarist and songwriter. His infectious, jangling melodies and crafted lyrics blend Americana with Mersey Beat and sun-shower pop.
Starting out as a suburban troubadour and garage caterwauler, he played driveways, coffeehouses, church basements, galleries and subway stops up and down Boston's North Shore before eventually finding his way to the legendary CB's in Greenwich Village. He returned to Boston in the early 90s to immerse himself in its storied roots-pop scene, and spent the rest of the decade fronting the Eddies, a twangle-pop group known for powerpop melodies, surf-guitar bite and a touch of country soul. He's since released a series of classic pop and melancholic swamp-folk recordings backed by some of the New England's best roots, rock and retro musicians, including Jeff Mell!n Saves The World, Parts 1ne & 2we and Good For A Gander.
In 2008, an anthology of what Epitonic.com has called his "literate, Bob Dylan-esque" lyrics was published by Oakland-based poetry press Kolourmeim Press. His songs have been covered by indie artists including Miss Mary, Death by Chocolate, Superdrive and Slide.
When he's not making music, he's working behind the scenes, helping to promote and produce the music of others with both Stereorrific Recordings, a small underground pop label, and Waxfruit Arts Media, Inc., a New York-based not-for-profit organization that supports and create projects connecting indie music with other media arts and the community at large. He's also an award-winning art director and visual artist, working with clients and artists from coast to coast.
Now based in Philadelphia, he continues to write and record, and is always up for new collaborative projects.
