Jehangir Aziz Hayat

Biography

Jehangir Aziz Hayat is an upcoming artist from Peshawar. He's from a Pathan family and has roots in Peshawar. He has been writing songs and making music since he was twelve. Jehangir's earliest teachings were from his mentor, inspiration and instructor Sarmad Ghafoor from whom he learnt the basics of playing the guitar.

Jehangir has always been very passionate about music and his main influences have been Alice in Chains, Arch Enemy, Counting Crows, Dave Matthews Band, Diana Krall, Down, Guns N' Roses, Jerry Cantrell, Junoon, Megadeth, Metallica, Nirvana, One Minute Silence, Pantera, Pearl Jam, Puscifer, Skid Row, Superjoint Ritual, U2 and Velvet Revolver. He had his first concert at the International School Peshawar where he was studying, and played for his school. From then onwards he would sing on a more private level, where his talent and skill as a guitarist and musician was extremely appreciated. His songs also received amazing reviews on the internationally known site for music www.MySongBook.com.

He happens to be the first grunge vocalist in Pakistan to have appeared on the national music scene and to have reached the charts in it's first week of release. The song "Never Change" was nominated in the Indus Music Awards, making him the youngest musician in Pakistan to have been nominated for "Best Début."

He has made a number of songs which he is planning to release soon. The video of his song 'Never Change' (which ranked number three in a Heavy Metal Competition), first aired on Indus Music. Directed by Zeeshan Parwez, the video, along with the song, received excellent reviews from notable music critics from all over. Shortly after being aired, offers from international communities started pouring in for his music to be played in their films.

He is busy studying for his examinations. However he is not entirely on sabbatical from creating music. Jehangir released his début album under the title of "Read Between the Lines" on CDBaby.com and iTunes (US) on the 31st of December 2009.

"Read Between the Lines" is a blend of aggressive tones merged with the sobriety of Jehangir's vocals. The album itself crafts hostile riffs along with some more mellow melodies. Most of the songs in the album define Jehangir's outlook on his father's life. The frustrated tone within "Bringing Me Down" and "See You Soon" brings out a new colour within South Asia's music industry, whereas tracks like "Pretend to Be" and "Light the Fuse" bring out a more personal feeling of strong emotion to the listener. If you like a nice blend of Nirvana, Megadeth and Pantera, then this is the album for you.

Jehangir uses a PRS 513, Taylor 414ce along with a POD XT Live.
