The pulse of the dancing feet has been a constant inspiration in this diverse artist's background and an inspiration behind her violin/fiddle playing. From jigs to reels, she'll dance one through a set of traditional Irish and Celtic tunes while her soaring vocals silence pubs and find a home in a broad repertoire ranging from jazz standards to contemporary and traditional Irish and Celtic songs.
Born in New York NY and raised across the river in NJ, it was the ballet studios, Martha Graham School of Contemporary Dance, and the piano bars of New York City that provided the initial backdrop and inspiration to studies spanning a broad spectrum of styles from opera and the jazz standards to Broadway-style singing, in both New York City and Los Angeles, before stumbling upon a traditional Irish music session in NYC in 2002, and... the Irish fiddle.
A trip to Ireland opened the door to a world of timeless music that would inspire the eclectic artist for years to follow. A rented violin, many large coffees, and some lessons with Patrick Ourceau in Brooklyn, led to regular yearly visits to Cape Breton Island with the fiddle and dance shoes, Irish step-dance with Niall O'Leary in NYC, then studies with Athena Tergis (Riverdance) and NY Sligo Fiddler Brian Conway.
Jennifer has shared the stage with Scottish group “Old Blind Dogs” in the Cool Dog Concert Series in September 2006, and with Grammy-winning Hawaiin master musicians George Kahumoku Jr. and Daniel Ho during a 'Celtic Aloha Tour' throughout the Hawaiin Islands in the summer of 2005, and taught step-dance workshops at the Kauai Community College Performing Arts Center in Hawaii in July 2005. Her first CD was recorded with Grammy-winning engineer/producer Ben Wisch in New York City in 2003. She is currently working with Irish musician/producer/engineer Gabriel Donohue recording a second cd.
