Jennifer Kathleen

Biography

Maybe I was born singing . . . at least it feels that way. Singing is how I express myself and how I interpret the situations and conditions I encounter on this life’s journey. I started playing guitar when I was 15, but singing was always my first love. I went to college for music performance and studied everything I could about music and eventually received my Bachelor of Arts degree in music performance from Lebanon Valley College. I remain grateful to all of the inspiring teachers I met during my formal education especially those with which I studied operatic singing. Training in classical singing was challenging and invigorating and I was keenly aware of my good fortune to be studying music at this level. However, my heart always led me back to folk music. Singing my own words with a guitar in my hands always feels like home to me. I wish to inspire with my songs. I want to find the emotional vulnerabilities of this human life and turn all weaknesses and virtues of our brief existence into songs that connect us to each other. From the subtlest beauty of nature to the complicated intricacies of the human heart and mind, I want to turn it all into something beautiful – a beautiful song.
