Jerry Wasserman writes and performs his own songs, most of which lean towards a satirical view of the universe and everything in it. Every once and a while when you are least expecting it, he comes up with a serious song. Most of the time, however, he likes to make fun of just about everything. Yet, in the process, there ususally is a message to think about.
He learned music can be the message from Bob Dylan, Pete Seeger, Judy Collins, The Mitchell Trio, and Woody Guthrie. He learned music can be funny from Tom Lehrer, Alan Sherman, Mark Russell, the Mitchell Trio, and Arlo Guthrie. When you hear his songs, you’ll laugh, you’ll cry, and you’ll understand the meaning of life. On the other hand, maybe you’ll just scratch your behind, pour a stiff drink and turn on reruns of your favorite reality show, Survivor Pompeii.
Most of his life, Jerry consulted and taught in various areas of Management but I'm sure you don't want to hear about that. He has also spent a good deal of time involved with local politics. In fact he is currently a member of the Needham, Massachusetts Board of Selectmen. Now if you're not from New England and even if you are, you probably have no idea what a Selectmen is. Well let's just say he's one fifth of a mayor. If you want to know more about Selectmen, there's always wikipedia.
Jerry grew up the son of a doctor which is better than growing up a son of a ...well ...anyway. His parents wanted him to be a doctor, but look what they got. His parents might have been dissappointed, but when you hear his music you won't be.
