Jesse Dee

Biography

An amalgamation of many genres, including Jazz, Canadiana, Hip Hop, and Pop; Edmonton, AB based duo Jesse Dee and Jacquie B are creating a sound that is distinctly vintage yet unmistakably contemporary. With tints of Tom Waits, Luke Doucet, and Ani Difranco, their music is laden with sincere story-telling, tender laments, clever hooks, and colorful harmonies.

The Jesse Dee & Jacquie B experience is quickly becoming one of Canada’s hardest working, capital acts. While Dee’s guitar playing leads the audience through an intimate look at his delicate folk tendencies, jazz wit and dirty blues incantations, Jacquie B’s vocals are a blindfold over the eyes of regularity. Her unconventional harmonies seamlessly blend with Dee’s unique vocal style and delivery. She can also be seen brandishing accordions and kazoos to fight off the evil that is mediocrity. This combination on stage is a reminder that there still are unique artists out there cooking up their own special blend of entertainment. The personal stories they share in their songs give you permission to call them a friend by the end of the performance.

Since the release of the debut offering “A Cross Pollination of Service Station Scrawl” in March of 2008, Jesse Dee & Jacquie B have been tirelessly playing and writing. Their live shows are consistent to the fact that they are ever changing. A true testament to creativity.

Their latest batch of fresh tunes stretches out their commanding use of multiple styles and grounds them further into their own sound. If the full presence that comes from this duo isn’t enough; add a full drum kit into the mix and you get a funky, pounding, can’t sit down kind of show that will have you massaging your feet the next day as you browse their tour schedule. Never stagnant ,and always pushing themselves into a new direction, they are together making hard inroads which hasn’t been going unnoticed.
