Biography

Jim Boz is an Internationally Acclaimed Award Winning Middle Eastern Dance artist based in San Diego, CA. A featured workshop instructor, promoter, mentor and competition judge, Jim has enhanced dance events internationally with his humor, passion and knowledge. Bringing years of classical and jazz music training, composition and performance, Jim Boz approaches dance with a musical sensibility that allows him to express in concise and clear ideas of movement, grace and power.

As an instructor and mentor, Jim creates a warm and supportive environment, characterized by a wealth of information, carefully organized and presented with clarity. He has inspired students to become instructors, studio owners and successful performers of Middle Eastern Dance & Raks Sharki.

Known for his strong presence coupled with masculine grace, Jim’s solo performances include a variety of tempos, textures and rhythms, bridging the emotional spectrum of the dance style. From improvisation to choreographed performances, from soulful and introspective to powerful and dramatic to playful, Jim Boz draws the audience in and takes them on a journey of music, movement, form and festivity.

Formerly a professional musician, Jim has fronted several bands through the 80's and 90's as a guitarist, vocalist and keyboard player. In the late 1990's, Jim Boz gained a small worldwide following as a solo gothic/industrial artist under the stage name of Fell.Head and with the experimental music duet Tension Factor. He has run his own digital recording studio, engineering and producing recordings for his and other musical projects.

In addition to offering his tools he uses to teach in classes & workshops, Jim has returned to his roots applying his experience & knowledge towards bringing together his loves of Middle Eastern and Arabic influenced music and electronics.
