Jim Emmons

Biography

Jim Emmons was born and raised in Northern Indiana and is a self-taught, self contained independent singer and songwriter. He taught himself to play piano by ear starting at the age of 16. He used his talents to record several local demos to submit them to record companies. After working with a few of the local known rock bands, musicians and recording studios, he sought to form his own home based recording studio to create and compile his own home demos. Once the internet became the fashion for independents to release and market their own music, Jim jumped on the bandwagon to do the same with his own.

He recorded and released his first full length album, "The Only One", in 2005 along with the #1 SoundClick pop/rock singles "The End of the World", "All Because of U", and "Hey Diddle Dawn". Another popular ballad that reached the top 20 SoundClick charts was "Stay With Me", which also received airplay on Joe Kelley's "Upper Room" on 88.5 FM in Fairfield, CT.

In 2006, Jim began recording and working on his sophomore album "Scorpio" which was released in the Spring of 2007. The album continued in the tradition of the debut album with strong pop/rock based songs as well as deep, personal ballads. This album also marked the debut of Jim's guitar playing, which he is continuing to teach himself as he did with the piano.

In the Summer of 2007, Jim was searching the internet and accidentally Google'd a website that would pique his interests. He discovered author and poet Geoffrey Dicker and found his work to be as imaginative as his own music. After contacting Geoffrey and a few trial demos were composed, a mutual agreement was made and the two creative forces were hard at work on a 3rd album for Emmons. "In The Absence of Red" is by far the most inspired, stunning and in-depth work Jim has created to date. With the help of Geoffrey's lyrical poetry, each song tells a story of love and loss, hope and happiness, future and fornication that can only be portrayed the way Jim has imagined it to be. The album's strong hooks, deep lyrical alchemy, and catchy beats are a strong indication that the world is about to discover a whole new hybrid of pop/rock/jazz flavored music.
