Jimmy Haggard

Jimmy Haggard is an internationally acclaimed blues guitarist, songwriter and producer based out of Raleigh, North Carolina. His style is steeped in blues, rock and roots music. From wild to mild as long as it moves you. His current band project is 100% electric blues. To keep an edge, Jimmy plays solo acoustic blues and roots music.

His new hit single, "Two Steps," was released in October 2011.

Jimmy's most recent album "Hot Summer Day" was released in September 2010.

Beyond his own music projects, Jimmy plays guitar in Raleigh NC based Rush Street (blues, rock and r&b), and with Squier Red and the Blues Band, plus he plays at blues jams in the Triangle (Raleigh, Durham, Chapel HIll) when he has a chance. Jimmy played in several midwest bands that include In Transit, Dirt Road, Sweet Rat, Power, and with Los Angeles based Mister B. Jimmy was also a regular at Central (now the Viper Room) on Sunset Strip, Hollywood CA.

He grew up in the USA Great Northwest, in a small town in Oregon. His earliest musical influence was his father playing acoustic Hawaiian Slack Key slide guitar. Around the house, his family had country, jazz, swing and folk music records that Jimmy played until he almost wore out the vinyl. Around the age of 8 or 9, his mother sent him to piano lessons, where he gained a love for music and learned the basics of music theory. As a young teenager, Jimmy got his first guitar, a nylon string folk/classical guitar. He learned to play his first song, "Hush Little Baby," sitting in front of the TV set watching quitar lessons on the Public Broadcast Network. Then Jimmy joined the Columbia Record Club. Wow... new music! Jefferson Airplane, The Grateful Dead, Lead Zeppilin, Black Sabbath, 5th Dimension, James Gang. When one of his buddies turned him on to John Lee Hooker, it was all over. Jimmy learned that he loved the blues. After a few years of running all over the place, working, playing and having fun doing a whole lot of nothing, Jimmy settled in Los Angeles CA. He went back to school, got a college degree, met the love of his life, and started putting more energy into the music. After 25 years based in Los Angeles, traveling around the USA, with a few trips to Europe tossed in, he landed in Raleigh NC. Now in Raleigh, Jimmy is lovin life and music, and is also having a great time with his recording studio, record label and production company.

Life is good. Play the Blues, Don't Let the Blues Play You.
