Jodi Shaw is a Canadian born singer-songwriter with a unique voice and vision.
Her first two albums "The Myth of Patience" and "The Pie-Love Sky" are the work of a young yet highly original artist finding her voice. After releasing her third album, the sparse and haunting "Snow on Saturn," Jodi commenced a three month tour of Europe, returning to New York City to work as a secretary by day and subway busker by night.
In the spring of 2009 she teamed up with fellow Canadian Malcolm Burn to record the ten hauntingly erotic vignettes that comprise "In Waterland," a highly evocative, intensely personal (almost sacred) work fraught with lust, evil, and beauty.
After a two year break following the birth of her twin sons, Jodi ran a compelling and highly successful Kickstarter campaign to raise the funds to re-mix and master the record (http://tinyurl.com/cfvrmt8), which is to be released May 15 (U.S.) and May 21 (Europe).
In 2007 Jodi was awarded the Songwriters Hall of Fame Abe Olman Award for Excellence in Songwriting. In 2010 she was chosen as an exhibitor for SoundGate2010 Sound Art Portal in Aalborg, Denmark, and in 2008 she was the Artist-in-Residence for Brooklyn College's Performance and Interactive Media Arts program. She has been included on several compilations, including the Songwriter’s Hall of Fame New Writers Showcase, JPF’s Music’s “15 Minutes," and "Rockrgrl Discoveries."
In addition to working as artist/producer of her two forthcoming albums, Jodi has written lyrics for three children's music DVDs, and has authored a children's ABC music book ("Juno's ABC's"). She is currently working on her sixth collection of original songs and a children's theatrical musical. She lives in Brooklyn, New York.
