Jodie Goldney & Georg Mertens

Biography

Jodie Goldney and Georg played first concerts together in 1992. These concerts seemed to have been a surprise experience for the audience. They asked numerous times during the next decade when the Duo would perform next time - which was impossible because of the distance they lived apart. As soon as Jodie and Georg lived closer together they decided to perform together again.

Jodie was born in Bathurst (Australia), did her diploma at the age of 16, followed by a master degree of recorder at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music.

Born in Aachen, Georg completed his degrees in performance and teaching cello and subsequently classical guitar at Freiburg, Germany. Georg lives today in the Blue Mountains / Australia and shares his time between performing, teaching, composing, recording and writing on music.
In 1993 he recorded the 6 Suites for cello solo by J.S.Bach as well as Benjamin Britten Suite No 2, Brahms Sonata in e minor and Schubert Sonata for Arpeggione for 2 MBS FM. Since then he has recorded 8 CD's, solo and in Duo and Trio.
