Multi-instrumentalist, singer, composer and conductor Joe Stobaugh makes music that defies categorization. Melding his passions for soul, blues, jazz, the classic hymnody of the church, Western Art music and music from around the globe, Joe creates a unique sound all his own. Using such diverse instruments as the human voice, saxophone, ukulele, electric and u-bass, acoustic and electric guitar, drum set, drum programming, world percussion and shruti boxes no sound is off-limits!
Joe holds a Bachelor of Music degree from the University of North Texas (where he studied music education and saxophone) and the Master of Sacred Music degree (Magna cum Laude) from Southern Methodist University (with a concentration in choral conducting).
An avid performer, teacher, song enlivener and preacher, he has been a featured clinician in the areas of worship and sacred music at numerous national conventions and has served as worship designer, song enlivener and consultant in many contexts.
Joe is currently serving as the Immediate Past President of The Fellowship of United Methodists in Music and Worship Arts, a nationally-elected position of an organization that serves musicians and worship artists across the United States.
In addition to his own performances Joe also plays electric bass in the band Renewed Worship and the Chuck Bell Band.
Joe currently has two albums available from CDBaby and iTunes: 2013’s Pilgrimage and 2015’s Music for Winter. Joe is a member of Choristers Guild, The Fellowship, The Hymn Society in The United States and Canada and the American Society of Composers and Performers.
