New York musician John Brodeur has made a reputation as a talented recording artist, composer of first-class alternative pop songs, and a restless multi-instrumentalist.
2001's "Tiger Pop" was performed entirely by Brodeur, a true one-man-band effort in a time before anyone with a laptop could make that claim. The album's pop smarts and try-anything production style caught the notice of Performing Songwriter magazine, who gushed "Pop records like this may be scarce, but when they are of this caliber, they won't remain under the radar for long."
Brodeur was joined by the rhythm section known as the Suggestions for the 2003 "Mix Tape" EP, which scored nationwide airplay for the crisp power-pop of "Be True" and the '70s AM-radio throwback "Birthday Girl."
Though recorded in 2004, Brodeur's second solo album "Get Through" didn't receive a proper release until 2009. Started as a Suggestions project, the album was sidelined when the band and funding both fell apart. Brodeur eventually completed the album and released it on his Mr. Duck Records label, prompting The Big Takeover magazine to call it a "fantastic collection of guitar pop."
On April 5, 2011, John will release "Tiger Pop Ten," a 2-CD set featuring a newly recorded version of the debut album as well as a 10th anniversary reissue of the original disc. Another solo release, "Little Hopes," will follow later in the year.
John Brodeur has shared stages with Fountains of Wayne, Greg Laswell, the Whigs, They Might Be Giants, the Bravery, Gavin Degraw, O.A.R., Rooney, Glenn Tilbrook, Freedy Johnston, and David Poe, among others.
In addition his own records, Brodeur has lent his musical talents to Soren Well, Luke Rathborne, Patrick Bower and the World Without Magic, Silver Rockets, Jessie Torrisi and the Please Please Me, Luther Russell, Maggie Mayday, Hector on Stilts/Freakwent Flyahs, Five Alpha Beatdown from Iceland, knotworking, the Wait, Tom McWatters/Sense Offenders, the Day Jobs, Katie Haverly, Brian Bassett, Guiltless Cult.
