Johnny “JOHN JOHN STOMP” Glanton
John John, (born December 20,) experienced the early years of his life in the Carolinas between Columbia and Charleston.
John John began playing drums at the age of 8. Columbia was home, when John John acquired a predilection for various styles of music and discovered his passion in life, would be performing and “creating” music; and that… it is.
At 14, John John started writing rap lyrics. He joined the Nomads, a Six (6) member rap group. This further inspired his focus and excitement about Writing, Producing and Performing.
John attended Fort Dorchester High School in Charleston, SC. He became an ICON in Charleston for his creative and electrifying drumming performances… combining Rap, multi-drummers and multi-drum sets to deliver electrifying performances. It was that creativity and display of talent that showcased him as a winner and two (2) performances at the “Apollo Theater” in New York City.
Professional preparation began when John John matriculated at Berklee College of Music in Boston, MA. He became a member of the “Hip Hop Assembly”, quickly becoming one of the lead “MCs” for the group and ultimately Band Leader under the directorship of Professor/Drummer, Angelamia Bachemin. This was the perfect environment to perfect this electrifying entertainer’s and musical skills as a Dancer, Drummer, Composer, Producer and Rapper…mixing Southern Funk, Dance hall, Sentimental Love Melody and Club Hip Hop styles into something all of his own…performing many of his own compositions while touring with the likes of Bow Bow, Avant, Lil Romeo, Ceelo, and Madusa.
The touring experience prompted, John John to focus on his first self produced Album. In 2004 he completed and released “All I Do”. Determined to create a competitive sound, he remained focused on all the facets of music production while putting together a group, J&J Dance Troop. They performed through out the Boston MA, area…traveling to Charleston, South Carolina to create his first music video, “My Crew”. In 2008, John John’s determination, dedication and belief “I can do it myself”, prompted him to produce his second CD, “Ready To Blow”. His third production, considered the best, until the next, “The Show Case” is scheduled for release Early 2013.
In 2008, John John decided to delve into the movie and film industry, working with Publisher, Rip Tide Music Located in Los Angeles CA. His music quickly acquired gratifying associations with prime time TV shows such as CSI Miami, 90210, NCIS Los Angeles, One Tree Hill and Girl Friends… movies include Make it Happen, Racing For Time and recently, Stomp The Yard 2; music for Video Games, included music for two (2) of Don King’s Prize Fighter videos. Working with Rip Tide Music, he released a digital version of his second CD “Ready To Blow” in mid 2010.
In 2003, when offered the opportunity to relocate to Atlanta to work with Ronnie Garrett and Herman (P-Nut) Johnson, in their quest to music greatness, John John remained at Berklee to complete his college tenure. After moving to the Atlanta area in 2007, John John joined the band, “Atl’s Obsessions”, as the Drummer and Rapper. In 2008 he affiliated himself (helper/photographer) with the renowned, multi-talented, Corporate Band, “Simply Irresistible”; under the Music Directorship of Ronnie and P-Nut, (both known for their music contributions to Tyler Perry’s movies and plays…Ronnie most recently… Music Director for Madea’s One Big Happy Family and P-Nut a Grammy Nominee for his music productions) His patience, persistence, dedication and talents were recognized and landed him a spot as rapper, backup drummer, and choreographer for the band. When the decision was made in late 2010 to form a second band, “Jessie’s Girls”, the talented John John Stomp was the Lead Rapper of choice. …and this is just the beginning!
